A very beautiful vintage Swiss made men’s Zodiac Sea Wolf Automatic wristwatch which was favored by the US military during Vietnam. Also included is an original ZODIAC buckle for the metal deployment band and a vintage new old stock JB Champion band. The watch measures 35 mm in diameter without the crown by 42 mm lug to lug. It features a 17 jewel movement, all stainless steel case with snap in back, original signed crown, beautiful rotating bezel in very good condition, original black dial with silver markers and luminous, silver luminous minute and hour hands, a silver sweep seconds hand, new crystal and a 18 size genuine leather strap. The dial reads: ZODIAC SEAWOLF AUTOMATIC and SWISS. The case back reads: ZODIAC SEAWOLF 20 ATM-ESPECIALLY WATER-TESTED. The case was polished and cleaned and is in good condition (only very fine scratches are visible). The watch movement was recently serviced by Paul's Watch & Clock Repair in Sacramento, CA. I believe this Longines is popularly known as the "Greenlander" model...but whatever you'd prefer to call this vintage, British Military-issue Longines, it's an exceptional timepiece. It appears to me that this watch pre-dates the Expedition of the early '50's, and is WWll era. I believe this is a fully original watch...case, crown, movement, dial, crystal, are all correct here. The strap may also be original, though I'd have no way to know for certain what these were issued on. In any case, it's a vintage cordovan leather strap that certainly appears correct for the watch, and from the era. I aquired the watch on this strap. The original, matte black dial is just stunning. Wonderful patina and aged radium...pretty tough to find a nicer dial on a vintage piece. Some of the of the lume dots at the markers are not to their original height, I note, but this dial is just exceptional to look at. Case is fully stainless steel, with fixed lugs. Width is appx. 38mm without crown and 40mm with same. Large watch. Length is appx. 46mm, with the lugs, which are 18mm apart. Overall case condition is very good, with the expected usage marks, but there are no significant marks to note. No deep scratches, dents or dings to advise you of. Caseback has a few light scratches, but retains most of it's original machining marks, due to the protection afforded by the strap design. Caseback indications are deeply engraved and original. Besides the "W W W" and the broad arrow, the numbers there are 23088 over 797, and F4521. Also worth noting that the number 797 is engraved on a lug, as it should be. A correct and matching case. Interior caseback indications are also correct. Crystal has the noted Radium-burn discoloration; certainly indicates originality. The crystal has some marks on it's exterior surface, of course. I'm not sure if that discoloration could be easily removed, but you can certainly just replace the crystal. I, and likely most of you, prefer it in it's current state. Movement is clean and runs strongly; watch has been keeping time. This is the Longines calibre 12.68Z, as indicated under the balance wheel. Serial number of this 15 jewel, gilt, manual wind movement is 6937183. The sources I've referenced indicate an early 1945 manufacture, based on that serial number. Winds and sets properly, as well. Hands still have full lume in them, remarkably. It's well-aged, of course, but fully intact. The small seconds hand does have corrosion on it, as you'd expect. In all, a rare Longines in wonderful vintage condition. Shipping via fully insured, USPS Express (overnight) mail, is FREE. International bidders with strong feedback are welcomed.
