*** PANERAI *** Panerai Vintage Compass circa 1960's for Military Use 100% Authentic Compass! Very Rare! This is a very rare military used compass. Panerai began making underwater devices for the Italian Navy in the 1860's. They first made watches for the elite Italian Navy frog men in WWII. Those men also received a depth gauge and compass. Later in the 1950's & 60's, Panerai made these same type of items items for the Italian, Egyptian and Isreali Navy deep water divers. Panerai continued to work with the Italian Navy until the 1990's when the company was purchased by the luxury watch manufacturer Richemont. If you are a Panerai collector, this is a must for your collection. The compass is stamped Officine Panerai Firenze & Brevettato (original) on the back. We have created a hand made strap of 65 year old leather from a WWII ammo pouch.
